This afternoon, a few of us from Indivisible We Stand UWS (first photo) joined the broader Rise Up coalition on the steps of the main branch of the New York Public Library. The timing was pointed — while the President marked his birthday by hosting an Ultimate Fighting Championship event on the White House lawn at taxpayer expense, we were out on Fifth Avenue doing something different: talking to passersby about executive overreach, democratic backsliding, and what we see as a pattern of harm to the country’s institutions.
Future historians are going to have a field day with this moment. We intend to make sure they have plenty to work with.
