July 8, 2026 – Can a Girl Get a Drink?

It started as a simple mission: find an outdoor spot for a cocktail. It ended as a full-blown walkabout. What a gorgeous evening to get lost in.

The plan was Central Park, drink in hand. So we set off in that direction, detouring through the dog run at Roosevelt Park so Toffee could say hi to some friends before the real adventure began.

Turns out, every dog-friendly spot in the park was closed. Fine. But the park itself? Packed. Runners, bikers, walkers, an entire civilization sprawled across the Sheep Meadow like it was throwing its own festival. I had to double check my calendar — this was a Wednesday, not a Saturday. Central Park doesn’t seem to believe in weekdays.

We walked to the south end of it, exited at Columbus Circle, then wandered a few blocks south hunting for a patio, a sidewalk table, anything with a cocktail menu. Nothing. New York, city of a million bars, could not produce a single open-air one when we needed it. But the light at golden hour reflecting on the buildings was worth the walk.

Then we did what any reasonable, slightly defeated New Yorkers would do — we went home. And that’s how we ended up exactly where we should’ve started: on our own rooftop, Aperol spritzes in hand, watching the day hand itself over to the night.
