May 12, 2026 – Bicyclists, Dogs, Birds and Trash in the Park

Ahhhh, another morning in Central Park that makes you wonder why anyone lives anywhere else.

I brought my camera out to practice shutter speed in front of one of my favorite views — the lake, glittering and peaceful in the early light. It never gets old. Neither do the birds; I caught a male cardinal putting on his most impressive display for a nearby female, who was, frankly, not impressed. Relatable, honestly.

Toffee, as always, was the social butterfly of the group — chasing, wrestling, and executing a full body roll in the grass with the kind of joy only dogs are capable of.

And then — well. I’m quietly developing a photography series I’m thinking of calling Proof of Assholes in The Park. Because apparently some people stroll through one of the most beautiful urban spaces on the planet and think, “you know what, I’ll just leave my trash here.”

Come on. You know who you are. Do better.
