July 12, 2026 – Manhattanhenge

Manhattanhenge — that magical moment when the sunset lines up perfectly with Manhattan’s street grid, sinking right between the buildings like the city planned it that way. This weekend, it happened on W. 79th Street. We stumbled right into it walking home from dinner, no plan, no crowd-scouting, just good timing. Stopped us in our tracks. Spectacular.

July 11, 2026 – Chinatown and Little Italy

Some friends were in town for the weekend and wanted to do a food tour — something you don’t really think to do when you’re a local. Honestly, my everyday life kind of is one big food tour. But we figured, why not, and they signed us all up for a food tour through Chinatown and Little Italy. Chinatown started us off right: pork and chive dumplings, then pork buns, spongie cakes, and Vietnamese tea. July 10, 2026 – Nonna’s of the World

Ever since seeing the movie Nonnas, we’d been trying to get a reservation at this restaurant. In case you haven’t seen it, Vince Vaughn plays Joe, a man who opens a restaurant in his late mother’s honor and staffs the kitchen with real Italian grandmothers, or “nonnas,” to cook their traditional dishes. It’s a huge hit, and — this is the best part — it’s based on a true story. The restaurant is real. It’s called Enoteca Maria, tucked away in Staten Island’s St. George neighborhood, and it’s been quietly serving up home-cooked meals since 2007. It started with a…
